Old Fashioned Chocolate Chip Cookies

The Old Fashioned Chocolate Chip Cookies that are offered on the cookie platters this year are an old family recipe. In case you are wondering why they have sprinkles on them I thought I would tell you. When my husband, John was young, his grandmother who was from Germany made him two very special desserts. One of them was chocolate junket, it's like pudding but not as thick. And the other -- Chocolate Chip Cookies. They showed up to every occasion, and every Christmas John and his 5 siblings got a box of those special cookies for their very own. They quickly hid them away so that no one else would dip into their treasure box. She never made those cookies without putting multi colored sprinkles on them, which to me is a wink to kids everywhere. John's Grandmother lived to be 100 years old. And her chocolate chip cookies live on as Emma has incorporated them into her repertoire.  So when we think Old Fashioned Chocolate Chip Cookies we think "Nana cookies" with sprinkles on top.
